Madeline Comeaux is a designer at DMG Design+Build, an award-winning New Orleans design build firm, providing professional design and construction expertise. Madeline pursued her passion for design by earning a Bachelor of Interior Design degree from Louisiana State University. Madeline’s inspiration is derived from her clients at their initial consultation. Learning of their goals and the vision for their space builds her excitement, and influences Madeline’s creativity throughout the design. Madeline enjoys discovering the client’s aesthetic predilection and lifestyle. This allows her to create healthy, functional, and aesthetically pleasing living spaces.
For many homeowners, the kitchen is the heart of the home and where they spend a significant amount of time. Therefore, creating a custom design and concept specific for each client is an important role for Madeline. When designing the heart of the home, especially for New Orleanian’s, it is important that Madeline envision the client working in the kitchen to ensure the design layout fits the client’s needs. “I make sure the layout is functional for our client’s individual workflow and needs. My knowledge of the materials for cabinetry and countertops help homeowners choose what is best for their home. It’s all about creating a beautiful and functional space for you and your family to enjoy.”
Madeline’s sense of scale and spatial layout ensures proper functionality of each room. She envisions herself in the actual space to understand the function. Then she is able to bring the homeowners vision to life. Her proficiency in space planning quite often reveals areas where an adaptation results in greatly improved functionality and aesthetic value. Madeline works directly with our tradesmen to ensure that the aesthetic elements of the design do not overlap or conflict with the necessary functional and engineering requirements of the home.
As a New Orleans native, Madeline understands the city’s rich history of architecture and design. She enjoys being able to incorporate a little bit of the historical “Big Easy” characteristic into her designs, while staying in tune with continuously evolving designs concepts. When the client’s goal is for the design to stand the test of time and not be dated to a particular year, Madeline techniques is to start with a clean-lined, classic base for the bigger, more permanent pieces and then mix in smaller pieces and accessories that can easily be updated as clients’ styles and tastes change.
In addition to design Madeline enjoys creating craft projects at home. She can often be found enjoying quality time with her husband Corey, their Aussiedoodle Stella Rose, friends, and family. She has been able to combine passion and purpose with her career and personal lifestyle.
“I enjoy getting to know our clients and what their priorities are. Their priorities become my priorities throughout our process from beginning to end. A home is the most intimate and personal space someone can have—I want that home to reflect the owners and their stories.“
